3 Reasons why Digital Transformation is here to stay

You’ve probably heard about it before. If you’re not quite the tech-savvy persona and aren’t sure what digital transformation is, just know that, at its most basic, it is about optimization of the business processes (and the increase of performance) through the use of technology
It's not about changing what businesses do, but rather about changing which platforms they use.

For example, if you’ve been going to the supermarket for your grocery shopping, the current context might have determined you to change that habit and use platforms such as Bringo to have the groceries delivered straight at your door.

It’s no secret that technology has invaded all aspects of our life, from how our jobs are performed, to the simple act of shopping or getting oriented in a new city. (By the use of Google instead of the traditional paperback map). Technology should therefore become part of every business, as a digitally oriented company has been proven to be much more efficient and productive, while errors are significantly reduced.

Let’s take a look at three reasons that make the case for digital transformation:

1. Things are always easier when you can find them online. This way, your audience can reach you more rapidly and you can in turn ensure an easy and constant communication with your customers. Moreover, now it’s easier than ever to build a website and be present on social media, for starters. As this article from Hubspot quotes: “Ten years ago, I couldn't have cared less if the new burger place downtown had a website. Now, I don't trust one that doesn't.”

2. Crises like the one we’re experiencing at the moment make it imperative for digital technologies to be in place. We gave everyone the opportunity to work remotely up to 40% of the time, starting with January 2019. In the current context, this benefit granted to our employees turned into a real business advantage. Having all the procedures and technical infrastructure already set up, we used the time saved for new business, to create new offers and to learn new skills.

3. It is not hard to see why simplifying processes and improving transparency in communication will naturally lead to more efficient work and, directly, to an increase in profit. In the future, there will be an increasing number of projects involving Marketing Automation (software that takes over repetitive marketing activities and centralizes them into clear processes that require as little human intervention as possible), digitization of sales processes or RPA (automation of processes within the company).
